Re[6]: Non-payer: Tek Translation
the curse of virtuality, I guess, but it's also a not so new game:
What I encountered - and have become extremely wary of - are companies that don't exist.
Web sites that claim years in business and the who-is look-up says "2012".
Many office locations and maybe a single one not a front.
And even then, one can lease anything but toilet paper. People need to own nothing and after they take your money, you are left with no resources to attach even if you have a clear-cut court order.
They used to have "everything belong to the wife" and now they just lease everything and then walk away from a pile of obligations. And you, you're just . . out of luck.
I keep saying "Check everything" but even with that, there is no certainty.
What disgusts me most is that these predators are poisoning what used to be a well respected business in which it really made a difference whether you were good or not. I have been in this since 1985 and my experience and expertise are worth less today than my lack of experience was then. When I propose to translate for USD 0.12 per word, I get laughed at.
No good.
