Re[4]: Non-payers
I totally agree. I only got cheated once and I think I was too busy to actually go into details of the person and company. Moreover, it was only €17 so, that wasn't a big loss for me as I make €30 per hour. Till today, with more than 15 years in translation business, I haven't been cheated because I check the background and use my sixth and common sense while sending messages back and forth to check a person (maybe, translators here should learn something about Psychology). One of the plus points for me is, that I DO NOT take any projects from Indians and Arabs (no offence as I know there are nice people and very professional) but, I am talking in a general tone here. I saw translators being greedy and sometimes they would accept the projects for peanuts (and the project itself consists of thousands of words) and at the end, we start to cry (as I did once but it was to let others know as colleagues to be aware of that agency/company). The best practice is to engage the communicator and ask different questions which can satisfy you (at least, better than getting the project without going through the main communication process).
Thank you for your suggestion!
