Planning to publish a book about my travels
Karel’s letters written during travellingHmm, been doing a bit of thinking. Will read your letter again later but a bit excited and wanna get some of my thoughts out while their stirring in my head. First of all, besides building the eco-tourist treehouses, which would be exciting for me and perhaps interesting enough to write about, if I get a lot of couchsurfers etc. to come and help, another idea that was brewing in my head for Asia is to bicycle across it (and why not the rest of the world?). Get a tent and some small solar pack. I think that should definitely be interesting enough for people to read. Do you have Word on your Mac? I could send you stuff in Word, you turn on Track Changes so that I can see what you did to it and learn from that. If you help me get published etc. I can give you a percentage or take out of my income whatever you want to make it worth your while. It would definitely be more interesting than translating, but I could keep doing that in between for cash injection. I've been told that regular tourists spend about a thousand bucks a month here, staying in hotels and all that. If I tent it it would certainly be cheaper, or perhaps I could combine it somehow with these charity projects I have on my Asia Plan map (free food and room in exchange for a few hours work a day). Did ya check that out? Good way to network with the local community and get ideas where to travel next. I could even purposefully try to make my life crazier, which is what I wanna do anyway and which could sell more. Up until now I have been more focused on getting work from translations or other means, so usually found a beautiful place to park and get into some routine around work, so not so much to write about. But if I cycle around and try to be crazier, lots more interesting stuff I presume. In fact, you can say my "work" would be to live crazier, in order to get more ideas etc. Would certainly be a fascinating way to discover this continent! Right now I'm thinking of splitting this weekend and heading south. Kinda boring in this place, can't cook with spices or garlic, onions and eggs, but can do that at the local grocery store. Also I'm not keen on all the bureaucracy and difficulty it is to stay in some of these countries, and much easier in Malaysia (where I'd like to head to my rainforest eco-tourist place). But if I derive some income from this I can pay extra for visas to stay longer. Otherwise it's often 30 days and then you have to leave the country to come back and just a headache. Oh, how about this for an addition? There's a really cute little girl at the grocery store here and we keep smiling to each other and flirting, and one day she was drawing pictures and showing me. First of a stickman figure with a box of circles around him, then of a girl with a box of hearts around her, than two smaller versions next to one another, holding hands, with a little box between them, obviously a crib and little baby in it. Thought it was so cute and funny. Got a picture of her but it was dark and she was a bit far, so fuzzy, but cuddling a cat and looking at us in her really cute way. Wondering if readers in the west would find something like that amusing or just consider me an outright pedophile. Anyway, would certainly be great to add this as a source of income! * * * Island Hopping in the Philippines * * *
