As women, we must particularly remember that the Lord God has placed a huge gift in our hands – our body is a tabernacle, because it brings forth life to humanity. Such a gift must be protected.

I know I went astray

My name is Emilia and I come from Nowy Targ. I grew up in a traditional Catholic family. From the beginning my parents instilled in me and my siblings moral principles and they passed on their faith to us. Unfortunately, throughout my whole childhood I never heard from my parents that I was loved. I didn’t even know if I was needed at all. From time to time I felt tolerated, at best.

I went through most of my life with this type of feeling. Finally, I went to study in Krakow. Here I met a boy. Never before had I dated anyone, but I had my ideas and requirements, and he met them all. Handsome, elegant, intelligent – just a “decent” guy. He had problems with faith, but I was willing to overlook it for a while. His friends said he was ideal, and they were evidently jealous. And this ideal guy set his eyes on me. On me, a girl who was convinced that she could not be loved … Our relationship lasted three years. It was not bad, but secretly I had always dreamed of a much deeper relationship. The true spiritual friendship. That, however, was not between us. And, just as many girls in this situation do, I thought that there was a cure for that: that if I gave him my body, we would become a lot closer and that would solve our problems. “Anyway,” I thought then, “I am going to marry him one day, so basically this is not the sin of adultery.” So I decided it would be best. However, after committing this sin our problems did not get solved, and today we’re not married …

Now I know that I went astray, and although some things cannot be reversed, I know that the Lord Jesus can cleanse every heart. Anyone can make a new start. However, as women, we must particularly remember that the Lord God has placed a huge gift in our hands – our body is a tabernacle, because it brings forth life to humanity. Such a gift must be protected. Purity is not a set of prohibitions that are supposed to strip sexuality of all its beauty, but it is the only way in which we can protect our great dignity. That which is sacred, demands respect and that which is sacred is worth waiting for.

If I was to tell young women one most important thing, it would be this: never give your body to men before the sacrament of marriage. Ask God for a husband who will strive for holiness together with you.

Praise the Lord for the grace of my conversion!
