Dear Colleagues,
just a word of warning about Cabrina Nathaniel, aka David Guerra, Helmut Moroschan, Mrs.Uzoamaka Okoro.
They will contact you about a job, "paying in advance" by check. Instead of sending you the agreed amount they send you much more. Afterwards they will tell you to resend it to other persons which are listed above, through Western Union or Moneygram.
Be aware, none of these transactions are traceable! The scam is very solidly organized. Names, phones, everything will result fake.

I received the same instructions by this person. I received the check and deposited it. Now what should I do? If I withdraw the whole amount, will I be able to obtain the payment? What will happen after I send him the money through Western Union?

My apologies for the delay,
absolutely don't send the money through Western Union or Moneygram. Once you have the money and you use Western Union you will get a phone call from the bank that the check results stolen and that all funds of the cheque are withdrawn from your account.
Result is that you have to cover the expenses.
The best thing you can do without getting in trouble is going to the police. Please use my name as a reference if you want to.
In each case don't spend that money. It is withdrawn under your name from another account and it will result stolen

I also received a cheque from Cabrina Nathaniel and deposited at my bank. They told me there´s a deadline until 20 September, before the money is really credited to my account. If the cheque is fake, they will let me know. I will keep you informed.

the cheque IS fake. I received one, deposited it and after 10 days they took the money back + 140€ transaction fee! Thank god, that I didn't transfer any money before the deadline, but still: I actually lost quite a bit of money on this. I'll go to the police now and will keep you updated.

My bank advised me to go to the police, too, as otherwise it is difficult to track them down and I do have some information. How much money did you loose because of the cheque, Adelheid? Let me know what the police said.

Don´t accept her offer, it´s all fake. She will send you a big cheque, but it´s not covered and will bounce after a few days. And never transfer any money, which she requests. You will lose all that money!

In this case it's better to say no to everything he/she has to offer Geneviève. He'll insist in sending you a check for future work and when you receive it, it will be much more than promised. The difference of what he said what he would send and what he really sent would have to be used to pay for a workshop and you would have to reimburse it. But the cheque will bounce like Claudia said.

Interesting! I just got a message from Carbina Nathaniel asking me to translate urgent articles for the son who studies in Lyon. "He wants the document to be translated from English to French on Perspectives on Racial descrimination in asociety worth 8,235 words with the deadline date(01/03/2013)." The funny thing is that is says later the translation into German is needed and I started searching for the sender's name! Luckily I found this post! Thanks a lot.
I told the police about it and they got back to me recently, claiming the case is closed because there is not enough evidence *facepalm* meanwhile she/he continues scamming...

Thank you for these posts. I was about to accept a job (Translation English into French about Child Abuse) from Cabrina Nathaniel. From the beginning I had doubts therefore I made a very high offer which should have been refused. So when I received the confirmation for the translation today my doubts increased and I check on the Internet and found your posts. Of course I will refuse the job and inform all the translators I know about that.

Hi, I was in exactly the same position as Florence Lecanu except that the subject was "equality for women in third world countries". The offer of 50% payment in advance with no checking up on my qualifications seemed to good to be true and I also Googled up Cabrina and found all the reports of the scam.
