Forum for Translators: How do you market your language services?
What are your favorite ways of marketing your language services?
As a recruiter of linguists for a language services provider, I look for a balance of professional qualifications and field experience in those that I hire.
However, I am put off by those that obviously exaggerate their experiences.

Hi Sally,
But how do you find your own clients? How do you market your language services? How much money and time to you devote to marketing?
The best way of marketing your language services is to have your own website and list it on google. After this you have to get good keywords to increase your visibility in the market. I would recommend the Google keyword analizer on Adwords. You list those in your keyword meta tag. Finally you need to create backlinks for your website. The best way is to submit your website to directories and to submit your website as a page on facebook and other social networks like google +. Remember when you submit to these to add your site´s link in the information of your page. Other ways are guest posting. The ways I have described until now are free. But there are paid ways like submitting your website to the major directories and paying websites to put your link in their content. For this last one you have to contact the website owner. The free ones are very time consuming. In your case I would recommend you to also send your Cv to major companies. And if you need any translation help or translation services just contact our company:

Believe it or not, old-fashioned marketing still works. Regardless of the (very few) SEO/SEM tricks I know, I usually carry a stack of business cards with me wherever I go, so I don't miss an opportunity to deliver one to any potential client that comes my way. I also leave a few cards in places like local coffee-shops, bookstores or markets - where my target clients go.
You see, think globally, act locally :-)
