Details of the project: Specific Duties:

Provide native language and media skills to support engagement of regional stakeholders, thought and opinion leaders, and regional media. The Cultural Advisor will facilitate dialogue and interaction with local and regional stakeholders, and will act as liaison for the client.

Conduct weekly conference calls with the client or appointed representative to coordinate guidance on engagement strategies.
Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders, thought and opinion leaders and media for client interface in region.
As required, escort client to meetings and interviews with local and regional stakeholders and media.
As required, prepare client with talking points and information papers on subject matter, personalities, and other relevant information.
Coordinate engagement activities with appropriate U.S. Country Teams in the region.
Foreign Language:

Provide fluency, verbal and in writing, in Dari / Pashtu / Urdu: DLPT equivalent 3/3 acceptable, 4/4 preferred. Successful candidates will also possess strong English writing skills.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in academia, journalism, or strategic communications. At least two years experience planning and executing grassroots organizing or marketing strategies in social media environments. Years spent in post-graduate education can be applied against this five-year requirement.

Minimum Education:

BA or BS degree from any accredited college or university or a certification in information technology.

Travel: Some travel may be required.

Requirements:
-- Must be a U.S. citizen that fluently speaks English and Pashto only or English, Pashto and Dari
-- Must be willing to obtain a security clearance
-- Must be willing to travel overseas, in this case, Afghanistan

Duties:
--Provide operational contract linguist support to U.S. Army operations in Afghanistan
-- Provide general linguistic support for military operations and interpret during interviews, meetings, and conferences
-- Interpret and translate written and spoken communications
-- Transcribe and analyze communications
-- Perform document exploitation
-- Scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents for key information
-- Translate foreign language documents
-- Identify and extract information components meeting military information requirements
-- Provide input to reports

Vacation/Leave:
--10 days after 6 months of service (20 days after 1 year of service)
