Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Caroline Hammer and I am a freelance translator. I can translate from English to French or from German to French. I can also carry out \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"summarized\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" translations in which I will not translate the original text word for word but rather set out its abstracts in a shorter translated text. My training has made me a specialist in law and in economy. These are my two academic specializations. On a personal level, I have been a regular video games player since my teenage years and a regular roleplayer for three years now (two subjects which are seldom taught about in translation schools). I have one year of professional experience as a translator, working on a mix of short projects (a day, a week...) and more long-term works (I have worked on a project for six months in total). I translated legal texts, including contracts, but also had big projects in the field of games/entertainment. Hereafter are some more specific examples of texts I have translated: I have worked on some ECHR decisions. I have translated a book of roughly 400 pages for the American publisher White Wolf. Since this book is not yet published, I cannot reveal any information about its contents, but it should be on the market in about a month. I have translated the board game Lifeboat, originally published by Gorilla Games, and its extensions Cannibalism and Liquid courage for the French publisher Le Joueur. The French name of the game is “Les Naufragés du Titanic”. I have worked on technical translations regarding a variety of fields, including a training program for the employees of a company and manuals of factory machines. Should you wish for a sample of my work, please do not hesitate to send me any short text of your choosing as a test translation. This is of course free of charge and does not bind you in any way. I hope we can work together soon. | |
