I'm Pongphisud Dejakaisaya, and I'm a Thai person who studied in Sydney, Australia, and graduated from a bachelor double degree program of International Studies /Law from the University of New South Wales. I'm currently based in Bangkok. From a young age I've always been passionate about foreign languages. My parents gave me one of the greatest opportunities of a lifetime by enrolling me in a high school in Sydney, Australia. My dad always sees the value of education, and the importance of English in the world where the barriers between nations are constantly fading away. Knowing that the education in Thailand cannot be compared to that of the western world, he decided (quite suddenly) that my sister and I should at once be sent abroad. This greatly shaped how who we are today. I started to immerse myself in the Australian culture (I didn't have any choice since I was one of only a few Asians in my year group). It was at this time that my English improved dramatically, being forced to talk in it, write in it, and listen to it everyday. I also started learning two new languages in my new high school: French and Latin, which I picked up quite speedily. I began to realise that foreign languages is my forte. I love learning new languages. Later on when I was about 14 years old, my parents suggested I take up Mandarin Chinese , seeing that China was and is even now becoming very powerful in terms of economy and trade. I didn't like it at first, but I persisted nonetheless such that now I'm fluent in the language. In 2013, in an attempt to improve my Mandarin even further, I went on an exchange to Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, as part of my university exchange programme. It was one of the best years of my life. It braodened my horizon, and allowed me to get in touch with people from all corners of the world, be it Europeans, Asians, Africans or Americans. It was at Tsinghua that I started learning my last foreign language (so far): Japanese.
