Before becoming a full-time freelancer, I worked as a Project Manager for a translation and localisation company and provided translation software support to users, so I have good technical knowledge and am familiar with client and translator requirements.

My interests reflect my areas of expertise. I am passionate about language and its use, both as an art form and as a means of communication. I also enjoy learning about new language technology and ways in which to use it, and have several years of experience in this field. I follow the advancement of effective technology and knowledge closely.

I have spent several years living in Dutch-speaking countries, which has not only been invaluable for my language skills, but has also given me an essential insight into understanding the underlying cultures and customs so often required in the provision of quality translations.

I have also worked in many varied industries including: IT, language technology, engineering, telecoms, farming, airport security, hotels and catering, fund-raising, etc. I believe this has given me a good general knowledge and a better appreciation of many different subjects.

When I am not working I enjoy participating in lots of sports, particularly triathlons, marathons, football and mountain biking. I am currently training for Brighton marathon in April 2010 and the Antwerp half ironman (70.3) in July 2010. This overlaps somewhat with my interest in yoga, health and physiology.
