Special conditions of this project:
• We require the landline telephone number of each interpreter
• We require a criminal backgrounds’ check from each interpreter. I would provide information on how to do this in your country, using our approved UK Gov resource.
• I would need to do a Skype assessment with each interpreter and I would provide a glossary of terms for the UK benefits section.
• If the interpreter does not have evidence of English proficiency, they would also need to complete an English proficiency assessment.
Information about the workflow:
• Interpreter logs in to the system in the morning by calling the UK landline number, pressing 1 and then hanging up the phone.
• The phone starts to ring (probably straight away) and there is a bigword representative on the line.
The representative says ‘I have a Tamil call for you,’ and the interpreter accepts the call.
Thebigword representative leaves the call and the interpreters start interpreting the conversation.
• When the interpreter has finished his day’s interpreting, he calls the landline number and presses 2 to logout.
• The project will run indefinitely. We are looking for new telephone interpreting partners overseas and this is a service we provide to the UK Gov.
• Main subject areas are NHS appointments and benefits and welfare interviews
Payment terms for freelance linguists:
• Our system would calculate all of the calls that you during your day’s interpreting, and these are added to your online platform.
• You can access your GMS system to see the calls you have taken and the duration of the calls. You would then need to invoice the calls to us through this profile.
• You are paid for the total time spent interpreting on calls, not the total amount of time logged in.
• You are paid on the last day of the month for the previous month’s interpreting, e.g. 30th April for March’s interpreting.
