WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION?
Provide interpretation by telephone for State Farm associates
Interpret conversations clearly and concisely in both languages
Use in language State Farm glossaries to assist in preventing a communication breakdown
Recognize consistent problem areas and report them to management
Recognize unusual events affecting customer service and work with management to resolve
Suggest methods to update, simplify, and enhance processes, procedures, and technologies
WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION?
Demonstrated ability to speak source and target language at Advanced High or Superior ACTFL Proficiency level
May assist less experienced Interpretation Service Representatives with procedural issues, unusual customer requests and minor system/equipment problems as needed
ITEMS OF NOTE
Successful candidates must be fully bilingual (English/Spanish) at an advanced level
Successful candidates must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
Successful candidates must be willing to work non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays
Must have received minimum required score on all appropriate language tests
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
*** Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are required for this position at the Advanced-High or Superior level and successful applicants must pass a language proficiency assessment prior to starting the position. ***
Interpretation Representatives provide interpretation services for our internal business partners and Spanish speaking policyholders.
Additional compensation includes Spanish bilingual pay of $1.50 per hour for the Interpretation Representative position. Employees moving to a position that does not require the Spanish bilingual skill, bilingual pay no longer applies and the bilingual pay amount will no longer be included in their compensation.
Selected applicants are also eligible for a one-time in-language bonus of $1000 (less taxes).

Spanish Interpretation Services (SIS) is currently open Monday through Friday, 7am to 9pm CST and Saturday, 8am to 7pm CST. Days and hours of operation are subject to change. Applicants must have flexibility in their work schedule.
The start date for this job opening is anticipated for 1st Quarter 2015.
The position will be located at 1500 N. Priest Dr., Tempe, AZ.
A 12-month incumbency period is required for selected employees.
