Forum for Translators: In need of real advice...
Greetings fellow translators,
I have been translating for some 20 yrs. as a back up activity. I´ve done this how it was done in the past, person to person. However, times have changed and I know need to make translating-interpreting a priority, but I find that it is mainly done in the internet. I found this page, and then there is PROZ.COM and others like translatorsbase.com, traduguide, etc.
The question is:
How or where do I get started?
In most of them if not all, they charge a membership, which is logical. But where is a good place to begin and start getting some job offers?
Please any and all information is welcome. I´m comming from a nonvirtual platform and may seem a bit old fashioned, but I'm trying to update myself and would really appreciate all the help I can get.
Thank you all for taking the time to read and perhaps rspond.
Sincerely,
Israel Ducoing

Thank you for your response and time! I am looking into the links you sent me.
As to sites like PROZ, TRADUGUIDE, TRANSLATORSBASE, what is your take on them?
I want to be as accurate as possible in time and money.

Hi Israel,
The mentioned websites are in a similar market as we are. We advise you to register with them as well.
Dear Israel,
You may also try to contact translation agencies that work in your translation pairs directly. Prepare your resume and offer and establish your rates.
