Scam alarm!
Hi TD,
You have a job entitled: "Hiring freelance voiceover / dubbing / TTS talents!: Job 00077766", posted by a Chinese company requiring 10 hours (ten!) of voice recording, male and female, much of it improvised, in each of several languages, with detailed instructions entirely in English.
(So they have a budget for [10h x 2 x 5+ languages =] 100+ HOURS of voice recording but not to translate the *Sample* instruction text? Ding ding ding!!)
Apart from that, they tell me -
"If your samples are approved, we will invite you to register first, where you need to fill your basic payment information and other required information in the system (inc. copy of your passport!!). After you deliver the official recording and authorization letter, we will create the PO for you in the end of that month, and the payment will be made next month."
In other words, you deliver 10 HOURS of voice recording... and *a month after that* you get a PO? ...Maybe?
And *TWO* months after delivery, you get paid.
Maybe.
NO serious agency in the voice recording industry works like this. At the very least, voice actors should expect advance/deposit payments, especially from an unknown foreign client, with no possible legal recourse.
I won't mention the name of the company here but I believe they should be clearly cited on TD until they can prove their integrity.
Thanks,
GeorgeS
