Becoming a Swedish Translator
I studied Swedish and was in a university program in literature. I got pretty good, but it only made me appreciate how long it is to come to deep mastery of a second language. I have become very interested in making use of my Swedish skills by working as a translator, but after seeing a few jobs, have come to feel strongly that I am probably sufficiently equipped to translate from Swedish to English but not vice versa for a lot of legitimate translation jobs (especially technical writing, for example).
I was wondering if there was a recommended, structured way to try to bring my Swedish up to that level. Obviously I can just... work a ton on my Swedish privately, of course. But I was wondering if there is any realistic, goal-oriented way of deliberately bring my Swedish up to that level and becoming a professional. Some kind of translator training program? Thank you.
