In the competitive world of English to Spanish translation, it is often difficult to choose a translator with the language skills necessary to produce an elegant and precise translation. How can you be confident that there are no errors and the register of the translation is appropriate for the intended readers?

I believe that the theory of translation is of the utmost importance in translation, as is the study of the source and target languages, but I also agree with those translators who argue that translation is a gift. In my opinion, a good translator is like a good writer: it\'s an art that cannot be taught completely. This is why even certified translators often produce texts that are stilted or, worst of all, inaccurate. These mistakes sometimes cannot be spotted by the client, who is paying very high rates for a translation that sounds awkward and is not true to the original.

The most important thing for me when I am translating a text is to reproduce the author\'s meaning as accurately and succinctly as possible, and in the case of a badly written text, to improve on the original. Also, I work closely with my clients to make sure that I understand the purpose of the target text and that the vocabulary, register, and adaptation of some sentences are appropriate for the intended readers. I do not accept highly technical texts if I am not completely sure that I can produce an accurate and elegant translation.
