I have been lucky enough to find twice in my life -the two times I have had to decide what to do: at the onset of my working life and when its first part ended- lines of work that, allowing me to make a more than decent living, also provided the opportunity to really enjoy life through my work. The first time I became a marketeer and business person, and the second, a translator and teacher of English as a second language. What do these occupations have in common? Well, an intellectually eager spirit such as mine can find endless sources of delight in the constant demand for learning both jobs present. And I consider this the greatest asset as a translator, as something you can be sure of in this trade is you never know what the next job will be about and what you will have to learn, usually in a snap, to successfully fulfill the challenge. Also, this spirit leads me, and my teaching forces me to, always have my tools sharpened: reading, sharing with other translators, keeping updated on new developments and events, studying, and so on. They say that whatever you do with pleasure will surely be well done. So, this is what I offer my prospect clients: the opportunity of working with a professional who really enjoys her job, and hence will always strive for excellence. | |
