I am a native speaker of Russian based in St. Petersburg and a professional translator with a MSc degree in electrical engineering, a formal training in translation, and three years of experience as a translator. I worked as an electrical engineer at a transformer substation manufacturer and as a power supply designer at a mining equipment and processing plant developer, and also served my internship at a processing plant of a diamond mining enterprise. As a patent attorney assistant, I have also been involved in helping foreign applicants apply for patents with the Russian and Eurasian Patent Offices. I have translated into Russian over 410,000 words worth of patent applications and also proofread over 100 translations of patent applications.

Having extensive knowledge of the subject fields backed up by technical education and hands-on experience, I am aimed at providing adequate and accurate English to Russian translations of highly specialized texts. As an engineer, I always pay great attention to the technical adequacy of a target text, including proper and consistent terminology and compliance with the Russian technical standards (GOST, etc). Having gained valuable knowledge of the best practices of filing applications with the Russian and Eurasian Patent Offices, I am geared up to provide quality translation of patent materials.

A translation process I have strictly adhered to includes analyzing the source text, translating (exploiting CAT-tools), reviewing the electronic version of the translation, and finally proofreading the hard (printed) copy of the translation, which is all done by me. If necessary, I can also engage a colleague translator who has over 20-year experience in the relevant subject fields to review my translations. Thus, the translation process I have applied features even tighter requirements than, for example, in EN 15038 standard. However, I am flexible enough to adjust the translation process to your particular needs.
