I am a Japanese Studies specialist and an active literary translator. For more than 10 years I have been teaching Japanese language and various Japan-related subjects at the University of Latvia. Since 2004 I have translated and published several novels and short stories by such Japanese authors as Natsume Sōseki, Tanizaki Junichirō and Akutagawa Ryūnosuke. Among my other assignements have been:
1. Translations from English and German into Latvian for the Latvian publishing house Jāņa Rozes apgāds;
2. Part-time work as a translator (Japanese-English) for a Latvian pharmaceutical company Grindex.
