Because of living in three different countries (the Netherlands, Germany and Croatia) and going to an European School, I know three languages fluently (Dutch, German and Croatian) an have a lot of intercultural knowledge. This is important for translations, because texts should be translated into not only the target language itself, but also into the \'spirit\' of the target language, so the users of the target language don\'t notice that they are reading a translation.
I have some experience in translating, because the last two years at the university (I studied German and English in Croatia) were concentrated on translations (also from and into Croatian) and during my studies I translated for a sworn translator, an architecture company (website translation) and a local radio station. I also teach in the mentioned languages (part-time), which gives me additional contact with the languages and their culture. |
