Details of the project: Due to increasing number of projects we are currently looking for new translators available for translation. Please note that new projects come on daily basis. As these are all projects for public sector, we require that translators understand the terminology in public sector (NHS, police, housing, education, etc.). Should you be interested in long-term cooperation, please do not hesitate to contact us. There is no restriction to the number of applicants. However, please note that your qualifications will be checked!

Psychological Dimensions of Culture: Job 00003850

Details of the project: This is a study that measures a variety of personality and belief-pattern variables. The survey instrument we have developed will be distributed to participants in 45 countries around the world. Therefore, we will need to have it (and three accompanying documents) translated into approximately 30 (or more) languages. Yoruba is one of the languages for which we will need a translation.

The instrument has approximately 350 single-sentence items in English. There are also short response instructions, a short recruitment description, an informed consent page (1 side of one page, single-spaced) and a much shorter "debriefing statement."

We want to work with two translators, so the first one can translate the English into Yoruba, and the other, working totally independently of the first, can "back-translate" the new Yoruba version into English, to check for improvable points in the English-to-Yoruba translation.

We will pay $650 US to the back translator and more to the first translator because he/she will need to make adjustments/refinements to the translation after the back translation has been completed.

Special requirements to the applicants: The first translator should be a native speaker of Yoruba and proficient in English. The back translator does not need to be a native speaker of Yoruba, but should have excellent proficiency in English.

Search Evaluation Specialist (SES) in Nigeria wanted: Job 00001807

The SES will be our point of contact for search engine feedback for Nigeria and will actively discover, collect and report search engines issues. The specialist will be the "eyes and ears" on the ground actively communicating with the general public regarding their thoughts and views on various topics ranging from search engines to everyday issues. The role requires the tracking of other competitive products, local news, trends and the provision of feedback on feature/product suggestions ensuring to keep the search engine superior in the local market. Finally, the role requires that feedback be provided on methods of suggesting and prioritizing features together with tracking launches and product feedback that affect Nigeria.

Job specification:
• Generate search experience reports with details on search quality, features, user interface and competitive landscape (Average frequency- 1 per month)
• Complete weekly tasks:
1. Perform lightweight analysis on results
2. Produce feedback on these tasks.
• Keep inventory of competitors and assist in identifying future trends
• Continuously provide feedback on issues, bugs, etc. via sparrow, buganizer, and other means into search engine teams. (Average file count -3/4 per week)
• Conduct lightweight user research (usability, focus groups, field studies, etc).
• Complete adhoc tasks at the request of international quality PM/eng/marketing teams

Qualifications required:
• Reside in Nigeria
• Fluent in Yoruba
• Fluent in English
• College degree or equivalent
• Strong written communication skills
• Very enthusiastic about improving technology and search engine options. Applicants do not need to be from an Engineering background but technical knowledge is an advantage.
• Knowledgeable about Nigeria’s online (web based) market, business dynamics, and can analyze competitive search results
• Marketing or business experience is an advantage.
