"Love One Another!" 14/2009 → True Love Waits - Pure Hearts
The following are excerpts from the testimonies of members who have joined the Movement for Pure Hearts and entrusted themselves to Jesus Christ through Mary. They have decided to work hard on themselves, so as to discover what it means to love truly:
“I am happy to inform you that I have joined MPH. My life used to be quite different. I spent all my time going to soccer games (it was the after-games events that really interested me.). I hung out in dubious company. Parties and boozing it up with the buddies were the norm. For several years I wallowed in this mire, until Jesus knocked at the door of my filthy heart and proceeded to clean it up for me. He has shown me that you can live a different life and be truly happy. For two years I have been a member of the Crusade for Abstinence. I offer up my abstinence for people who are still enslaved by alcohol. Now that I have joined MPH I have vowed to stay chaste as a gift to my future wife. I have been pure for over a year. I believe that true love can only be built on chastity. Although it is very hard to be pure these days, I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. I want to build my life on the Rock — Jesus.” Damian;
“My life has turned around since I joined MPH. I am slowly rebuilding my ruined conscience. Only now do I realize that I had been blind to God’s light. Pornography and sexual promiscuity blinded me. Today I am celebrating my personal success: fifty days of persevering in chastity. Thanks to prayer and reading the Bible I can now tell right from wrong, good from bad. I know the road ahead will be long and rough, and that I may yet disappoint my Savior at times, but I want to fight the good fight. My wish is that all your readers will find their mission in life on this earth.” Paul;
“I decided to join MPH not only to remain chaste, but also to be a member of a community that prays for those who are sexually promiscuous. I know we can pray for chastity and obtain it for others. Let us not be afraid to give witness to chastity, even if others do not understand us and mock us, or label us as ‘behind the times.’ Let us be brave in our witness to chastity!” A reader;
“I lived in sin for eight years. Then, one night, feeling utterly helpless, and crying my heart out, I said, ‘there is no God.’The reality, though, was that my tears were a cry for love from one who felt totally unloved; and God heard my cries. While I was in the army, I went on a walking pilgrimage to Jasna Gora. There, after three years of estrangement from the Church, I went to confession. But I was still far from a real conversion. Right after the pilgrimage I started praying the rosary. At first I had to fight literally over every decade. In time, however, I was able to say the whole rosary. I also began to pray the chaplet of divine mercy. I am convinced that it was thanks to Mary that a year after that night of my ‘showdown’ with God, I was able to rid myself of the sin of masturbation. I achieved it by taking little steps: first one month of not doing it, then another, and so on. It was hard, for the devil tempted me every day. Now I have been chaste for a year. I continue to pray the rosary, go to confession regularly, and receive Holy Communion frequently. Now I want to join MPH.” Luke;
