Forum for Translators: Elizabeth Dans - FX Translations

Elizabeth Dans - FX Translations               [Reply to this message]
Sender: Amaryllida Chalikiopoulou 12-03-2016 10:13

Hi! Just wanted to ask if anyone has worked for this person. A few days ago, I received an email for a proofreading job, which I accepted. After completing the task, the sender disappeared and never replied regarding the payment.
I know FX Translations is an agency with good reputation. I am just wondering if the Elizabeth Dans who communicated with is who she claims to be.
Thank you!

Ellie Dan is spamming the following messages (to get free translations) to translators listed at TD:

We need translators with the languages listed above. You need to be a native speaker of the target language. Please translate the text below in English. This is the main thing we will consider.

A módszer hatékonyságához szemernyi kétség sem férhet: a lábmaszkot kipróbálók 96%-a megszabadult a tyúkszemtől!

The researchers, from University College London (UCL), said their findings contradict the common perception that "fat shaming" helps people lose weight.

They suggested that people may "comfort eat" as a result of being discriminated against because of their weight.

"There is no justification for discriminating against people because of their weight," said lead author Dr Sarah Jackson from UCL.

"Our results show that weight discrimination does not encourage weight loss, and suggest that it may even exacerbate weight gain.

"Previous studies have found that people who experience discrimination report comfort eating. Stress responses to discrimination can increase appetite, particularly for unhealthy, energy-dense food.

Hello,

This is Ellie Dan, Nice to meet WTF, I will appreciate if you share your name and how you have been scammed. To clear the misunderstanding ALL translators that we work with here have been paid. Only in cases of Google translate or low quality payments have not been made. The agency address is in the UK, I am the Freelance project manager. You can imagine I am a freelancer as well, which gives me the opportunity to travel around the world. I have never been in Finland in my life. Yes, I spent a lot of time in Bulgaria, in the UK and even in Russia but I do not believe my whereabouts are important. so to everyone who reads this reference for our agency are available upon request. Also we provide the option to create a milestone on a freelance website where you can see over 1000 positive comments. Last, the texts are not meant as free translation as we send the same sample every time. Thank you, I am available for discussion.

Ellie Dan,

your identity and location are important to establish trust. Why do you refuse to disclose any information about your agency (contact details, websites, proz.com profile)? Furthermore, why have you been sending different texts to translators and expecting them to translate them free of charge? Sorry, but this really does look like somebody who is trying to get free translations.

Regards,

Charles

As I mentioned I am just a freelancer but I stand by that claim that all quality services have been paid in full. I just searched for the person that created this topic in the first place. It turns out that when asked about her payment details no answer was sent to this day. I will be happy to make the payment as soon as somebody answers:

I have already informed you regarding my payment details in two different emails. I believe you have all you need.

Amaryllida,

If this person pays you, please inform me where s/he is making payments from. There is a reason why this person is hiding behind fake names, locations and proxy servers.

Thanks,

Charles

Sorry but I am a little worried by your agenda. I am not sure if you are not the same person that has tried to scam us before. I do not want to get involved in whatever you are doing so this is the last time that I reply to unfounded claims.

Ok.. I appreciate everyone's comments and participation in the conversation, but this is really not helpful for me.

@Charles: for the time being, I have no further information other than what I shared in my first message here. Actually, I have no information at all; that's why I posted this in the first place!

@Ellie: I can understand if you haven't been able to complete the payment due to force majeure. Nevertheless, as already mentioned, I have already informed you regarding my details. In case you missed those emails, the only thing you need to send the money via Paypal is my email address, i.e. the one you can see above.

Thank you.

Looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, guess what...it's a duck!
She is what she looks like: a SCAMMER. She should be banned from posting jobs on Translator Directory. (and any other site)
