Forum for Translators: Nicolas Carteron/Coreido - Non-payment issue
On August 7, 2012:
I've been working with Nicolas Carteron (Coreido) for about two years now. Lately, things were becoming very disorganized, and he would arbitrarily decide to pay less than agreed, or not to pay at all. I didn't want to do anything about it because of the regular flow of work.
But this behavior continued, and I told Nicolas I would stop working with him unless he agreed that in case any modifications were required:
1) He would send me a list of modifications within 14 days
2) I would have at least 48 hours to make the necessary corrections free of charge
Nicolas agreed.
Nicolas sent me a project on May 22nd, due May 27th. I delivered on May 27th as agreed. I didn't receive any list of modifications to implement. I invoiced on July 4th. He then told me that since the client didn't pay him, he wouldn't pay me either. Attempts to reason with him were ignored, and then met with insults and threats.
Additional details:
Nicolas and I had agreed that I would be responsible for the translation, not the formatting. Nicolas blamed me for a lousy formatting.
I had alerted Nicolas that we needed Trados-compatible files. He sent me files that he said were Trados-compatible. They turned out to have glitches, and the result was a lousy export, for which Nicolas blamed me.
All of the above can be corroborated by mail exchanges.
I challenge Nicolas to prove that any of the above is wrong.
You are right Alain.
I have exactly the same experience with you.
Nicolas is one of the worst agent I've known.
I'll never want to work with him again.
Then leave some feedback on TC and ProZ, at least others will be warned.
We decide to pay less Alain for one single project as the format and deadline was not respected.
