Hello,
I work now for a company in Spain with a contract. This condition makes me unable to become freelance if the payments need an invoice. The only possibility for working as a freelance would be if I get paid under the table....
Is this possible?

Yes it is. Although you will need to know a fellow translator who works as a freelancer and can help you issuing invoices when your clients ask for one.

I live in Mexico, but tax law requirements may be similar. There may be times when people who are not registered in the Tax Registry need your services and do not need an invoice (here is when you get paid under the table). But, also, there comes a time when you translate for companies or individuals with tax registration and who are required to have invoices for tax deduction and return purposes (this situation is unavoidable if you wish to do this for a living). If you're getting into the freelance business, you will either need to partner with a fellow freelancer to aid you with this or change your taxpayer condition.

For local information, you may consider getting in touch with either an accountant or a freelance translator so that you know exactly how the business works in Spain.
