Re[2]: Non-payers
Dear Sue, I worked for IMTEC from 1994 until 2007 translating from Spanish to English. At the beginning of the economic crisis Joaquin Santos Palacios told me he could only pay me after 90 days. He currently owes me 3 months work, about 15 translations and 4.500 Euros. One day when I rang he said I cannot pay you. Since then he has neither answered my e-mails nor calls. However, if a friend of mine rang him from a number other than mine, he would answer, but hung up when the caller mentioned his name. I think he was fined by Hacienda for repeatedly giving work to translators who did not pay their VAT. He probably still lives about 2 minutes' walk from the address in Papa Negro. Maybe you should pay him a visit. I think he probably works from home. I am thinking of doing so when I return from England in June. If you reply to this, I will give you my phone number if you wish to compare experiences with a view to getting some of the money he owes you. Best of luck, Ivan Herring
