Re: Non-payers
I am writing to advise members not to work for a company called IMTEC Translations based in Madrid.
I am awaiting payment for work done in November 2010. All letters. phone calls and emails are ignored by the owner of the company Joaquin Santos Palacios and his colleague Mariono Perez.
I have attempted to claim the money back by the small claims court in Madrid by using the Proceso Monitorio/Small Claims Court but my claim was rejected because I did not have a stamped and signed purchase order which is the document you need from the client when you accept the work. Very difficult when working via the internet.
I have learnt a lesson from my experience i.e. no purchase order from the client= work not done. Also, all future work will be password protected which means that the client will only be able to open the completed document when he/she has paid.
A disappointed translator who will live to fight another day!
