The phrase ‘Unlimited Bandwidth’ is an overused marketing slogan by a lot web hosting providers (often Reseller hosts), attracting many unsuspecting customers to sign up, only for the customer to find out that the nature of their website content breaches the terms of service for unlimited bandwidth usage.

If you are tempted by a host offering unlimited bandwidth, you will definitely need to find out what their meaning of ‘unlimited’ actually is. In reality, every host has a limit to what they can provide. Think about it, why aren’t big businesses hosting their sites with a company who offer accounts with unlimited bandwidth for £10 a month?

You will find that unlimited bandwidth is actually limited or restricted in some way.

You may think, how can these providers get away with this? Well, it can be assumed that most customers do not understand how much bandwidth they really need or will ever normally use and therefore when they see one provider who imposes limits against another who doesn’t, the customer will often opt for the ‘no limits’ provider with the believe that they are safe-guarding themselves against incurring additional costs in the future…. which is understandable.
